Festivals in Phuket
The Phuket Vegetarian Festival which is the number one festival in Phuket, that occurs on the 1st to the 9th day of the 9th moon according to the Chinese lunar calendar (October). Songkran in April is an occasion to have fun throwing water at each other for a day and mostly party all night. Loy Kratong is held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar (November) is celebrated by releasing on the water little floats made of leaves, incense and flowers. Old Phuket Festival, end January, and Chinese New Year are the occasion for parades in town. Other lively and colorful events unique to Phuket include the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta and Phuket Bike Week. At the end of April, the largest Pride Celebration in Thailand Phuket is held.
