COMMUNITY COLLABORATION in Soi Paradise

SAFER SEX ONLY IN PHUKET PLEASE

Working with the businesses in Soi Paradise in Patong, Phuket Loves You Club has produced T-shirts with safer sex messages printed on them. All the T-shirts have the same message printed on the back of them ‘Safer sex only in Phuket please’ and three different messages on the fronts of them:

I Have Been Tested Have You?

Know Your Status, Get Tested

A Condom Is For Life Not Just For Christmas

All the bar staff and staff working outside the establishments in the Soi will be wearing these T-shirts every Friday evening, which it is hoped will give a powerful impact message to all visitors to the Soi, that everyone in Paradise and Phuket in general are 100% committed to promoting safer sex and reducing the rate of HIV infect in Phuket to zero.

There are also large plastic boxes of free condoms in all the bars; these bowls also carry the ‘Safer sex only in Phuket’ message. The condoms are being supplied through PLU’s partnership with Carex who have donated free condoms for the past two years.

Ian Philips the  Chairman said “ the enthusiasm and commitment of the bar owners and all the staff towards wearing the T-shirts really demonstrates  real commitment to promoting safer sex and getting the rate of HIV infect down to zero in Phuket.”

They have a target to raise 1 Million Baht for their chosen Charities, which are the Life Home project, where they sponsor the education of Children living with HIV or who have parents with HIV, thus giving these children a better future, helping them to break the cycle of poverty or stigmatization in which they are trapped. Their other Charity is called ‘Community Project’ where they work with groups like the Sabaidee Clinic where local people can go for free HIV & STD testing, receive safe sex advise and free condoms, The ‘Safe sex only in Phuket’ T-shirt campaign is a part of this project.

Ian Philips the  Chairman said “ the enthusiasm and commitment of the bar owners and all the staff towards wearing the T-shirts really demonstrates  real commitment to promoting safe sex and getting new HIV/AIDS infections in Phuket to zero”.
